About the Role

Founding GTM Engineer Role SellScale is building a virtual teammate that runs companies’ GTM Engineer (outbound sales).Think of it as a virtual teammate that lives in your Slack, Salesforce, LI, and email — then works as your sales companion to get top of funnel. We're hiring a Founding GTM Engineer to work directly with the founding team. You'll own the systems that generate revenue: building the automations, data pipelines, agent workflows, and outbound infrastructure that our go-to-market runs on — for SellScale itself and for our customers. This is the role where sales meets engineering. You’ll be doing some sequence writing and prospect pulling - but more importantly being the power user and working with engineering to scale yourself. If you're looking to future-proof your career for the 21st century, this is it. You'll be knee-deep in AI agents, the latest from OpenAI/Anthropic, LLMs, and the future of work. The engineering:ops ratio at SellScale is 3:1, and as a GTM Engineer you sit right at that seam — close enough to the product to build on it, close enough to the customer to know what to build. All this happens not as an "associate," but as an owner of key parts of the company. Requirements Willing and able to work 5 days a week in-person at our SF office minimum 2+ years in GTM engineering, revenue/sales ops, growth engineering, solutions/forward-deployed engineering, or a technical role at a fast-paced startup Hands-on technical ability is required — SQL and scripting (Python or JS), comfort with REST APIs, webhooks, and JSON. You should be able to go from "we need this" to a working system without waiting on an engineer Experience building in the modern GTM stack: Clay, Zapier/n8n, HubSpot or Salesforce, enrichment and data providers, email infrastructure (deliverability, domains, warmup) Self-starter who can own projects end-to-end without step-by-step guidance Comfortable with long hours, steep learning curves, and wearing multiple hats Strong interest in agentic AI, outbound sales, and the systems behind them Added premium for prior experience building LLM-powered workflows (prompting, evals, chained agents) or shipping production code Skills Knack for sales — this is a must. You need to understand outbound at the message level, not just the pipeline level. You'll either have run outbound before or learn it fast, because you can't automate what you don't understand Builder's instinct — your first move on a repetitive problem is to write something that kills it permanently. Scripts, workflows, agents, internal tools Excellent communication and writing skills — you'll interface with customers and partners, and copy quality directly drives reply rates Run through walls — there will be a lot of tough challenges left to you, so we need someone who can run through walls, eat nails, and do whatever is needed to get the job done, even unscaleably Analytical mindset: comfortable with metrics, dashboards, and operational KPIs. You'll own funnel data end-to-end — instrumenting it, querying it, and acting on it. You may be managing customer KPIs and your own Cross-functional range: you'll work across customer success, product, growth, and operations. This is not a role that is "only product" or "only Customer Success" Bias for action — you prefer to move fast and improve later Reasons it may NOT be a fit… 🙅 You want a clearly defined playbook — this role requires figuring things out from scratch. 🙅 You want to be a pure backend/infra engineer with no customer contact — this role is technical and commercial. 🙅 You want to run GTM strategy without building — the leverage here comes from shipping. 🙅 You prefer remote or hybrid work — we work 5 days a week in-person in San Francisco. 🙅 You're looking for a large-company environment — this is an early-stage startup where everyone wears multiple hats. Positives 💡 You'll build the revenue engine, not just operate it — automations, agents, and data systems you own end-to-end. 💡 You'll get exposure to a wide range of problems, from customer deployments to GTM to internal ops, and own real projects start to finish. 💡 You'll work closely with the founders and core team, with direct input on how the company operates and grows. 💡 You'll learn what it actually takes to build and scale an early-stage startup at the forefront of agentic AI and modern outbound — and come out with one of the most transferable skill sets in the market. About SellScale SellScale is building the first agentic revenue org. Background: At a business, you're either building the product or selling it. Enterprise sales spend is a multi-$bn market. Problem: As businesses grow larger, their sales spend grows disproportionately. Why? Sales — especially outbound — is still human-driven: it's subjective, hard to measure, and doesn't scale like code. This is exactly the kind of problem agents are built to solve. Opportunity: With the advent of recent tech like agentic AI, large language models, vector databases, and more, the future of sales is human x machine. Our agent, Selix, has already seen a lot of success. Timing: Right now, we are in the dot-com boom of AI agents. The agents we build help solve a business's #1 problem: how to grow revenue. We use chained LLM thinking and state-of-the-art GTM tools to help companies grow. Want to learn more?
